Founded in April 2014 by graduates from Cambridge chapel choirs, the Godwine Choir was set up to capture the atmosphere of chamber music at university and bring it to London as part of professional life.
The group is comprised of twenty talented young singers who rehearse together weekly at St George's Church in Borough. We encourage every member to develop vocally by selecting a wide range of challenging repertoire, both well-known and little-heard.
The choir specialises in a capella works from the 20th and 21st century. They have recently performed works by a number of contemporary composers, such as Gabriel Jackson and Jonathan Rathbone. Recent recordings include the world premiere of a new carol by Roderick Williams for the Financial Times.
In 2015, the choir will perform in several central London venues, and further afield at Buckfast Abbey and St. Catharine's College, Cambridge. A tour of the Amalfi coast is planned for the 2016 season. The Godwine Choir is available to hire by contacting our events secretary.
